Jeff Williams is running for mayor. He says the red light camera issue has spilled over into the mayoral race.
Current Mayor Robert Cluck is running for re-election and doesn't agree.
"It really hasn't been a big part of this campaign," said Cluck. "I have been asked about it about three to four times at different forums."
People who want red light cameras gone got a petition to force an election. Opponents say the cameras are used for revenues and are unfair enforcement.
"They have been very effective at curtailing red light crashes," said Cluck.
He says he'll go with what voters decide.
"There is a lot of heat from people out there who want us to take them out, and if they vote to take them out, they're gone; we're finished, and I'm OK with that," said Cluck.
Few may remember the last time an incumbent mayor was challenged in Arlington, and that should be enough of a contest.
"Definitely has many people upset in our city," said Williams. "We should get rid of the red light cameras. It has cost so much divisiveness."
