Store clerk honored for helping police track down murder suspect

DeSoto city leaders honored a 7-Eleven clerk during Tuesday night's city council meeting for his role in helping police track down a double murder suspect.

Brian Watson was presented with a plaque by the DeSoto Police Chief, commending him on his quick thinking.

Watson says he thought Colby James Robinson, a suspect in two Oregon murders, was going to rob the store last Thursday, and when Watson's 7-Eleven coworker recognized Robinson from a picture police showed them earlier, Watson got in his car and drove after him.

He got close enough to get his license plate.

Law enforcement officers later caught up with Robinson. They eventually shot and killed him in a confrontation in Dallas.

Watson even got a proclamation from the city, declaring April 21 Brian Watson Day.
