Man accused of trying to lure girls to SUV speaks out from jail

A man accused of trying to lure three girls into his truck with cash told his side of the story to FOX 4 on Friday from jail.

Sebastion Cervantes was caught after a brief chase and fight with officers.

Cervantes, a 46-year old construction worker, says he was drunk and doesn't remember what happened.

Witnesses saw Cervantes in a Pleasant Grove townhome community driving a red SUV.

They say he parked and waved sunglasses and his wallet, trying to lure several girls to get into his vehicle. Those girls told FOX 4 that Cervantes got out of the vehicle and chased them when they refused.

"I don't know if police officers had something to do with that," said Cervantes. "I don't recall none of that. Why am I going to be doing something like that when I had my girl with me?"

"But the teenagers are saying this; they say that's what you did," said FOX 4.

"Well, I guess we're going to have to go to court and find out," said Cervantes.

"So you don't know whether you did this or not?" said FOX 4.

"No, I don't," said Cervantes. "The last thing I remember I was on Military."

"How much did you drink?" FOX 4 asked.

"A whole liter of vodka in less than 10 minutes," said Cervantes. "Poured in a diet Coke, a glass and drunk it."

The girls, two teens and an 8-year-old, told detectives that Cervantes had been parking at their complex for several days this week, drinking in his vehicle and watching kids get off the bus.

Cervantes is charged with unlawful restraint of a person younger than 17, evading arrest and retaliation for threatening officers trying to arrest him.
