DALLAS - A construction project in Downtown Dallas will close Interstate 35 over the weekend.
Drivers should be prepared for detours and delays specifically south on I-35E to eastbound I-30. That section of the Mixmaster, or the Horseshoe, will be closed completely for bridge construction starting at 10 p.m. Friday.
The detour will take drivers to the Woodall Rodgers Freeway to continue on to I-30 east or I-35 south. Westbound I-35 won’t be affected, so drivers will still be able to take the exit.
The Horseshoe Project started in 2013. It is a $798 million project to expand roads and add new bridges. It’s supposed to greatly improve traffic flow through the Downtown area.
The bridge construction wraps up at 10 a.m. Saturday morning. The full project is expected to be complete in about a year.
