Man convicted in road rage killing gets 50-year sentence

A Haltom City man convicted in a road rage killing will spend the next 50 years in prison.

Jeffrey Hansana, 26, showed no reaction when the judge sentenced him Wednesday.

He pleaded guilty to firing a gun that killed 33-year-old Deidra Blackmon, a Tarrant County veterinarian, in March 2013.

Blackmon was driving friends home from a bachelorette party. She pulled up at the same gas station as Hansana, where the two got into an argument that ended with the shooting.

The judge said Hansana's mental health issues pose a threat, leading to his sentence.

Testimony revealed that Hansana denied aiming his gun at Blackmon, but rather, it fired into the air.
