Hometown Hero: Prom Closet

For the seventh year, St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Plano is opening the door to its free Prom Closet.

Three thousand prom dresses, evening shoes, evening bags and jewelry at the Prom Closet are all free of charge to girls in need.

The women of St. Andrew UMC want to make sure that every girl goes to her senior prom. They know that $500 or more for prom isn't in a lot of family budgets, and the Prom Closet helps fill that void.

Girls come from as close as west Plano, Dallas, Fort Worth and as far away as Tyler and Wichita Falls.

The honor system is used for the Prom Closet. Girls getting dresses must be in need and they must be there to shop in person.

The address is:

1401 Mira Vista Drive

Plano, TX 75093

The Prom Closet will be open during the following hours:

Tuesday, March 24: 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Wednesday, March 25: 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Thursday, March 26: 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Saturday, March 28: 9 a.m. - noon

Donations of gowns, shoes, purses and jewelry are still being accepted at www.standrewumc.org
