Investigators now call the death of a Dallas-based attorney suspicious

- The death of a prominent Dallas-based attorney is now being called suspicious, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.

68-year-old Ira Edwin Tobolowsky was found dead inside his garage after a fire at his home at 7435 Kenshire Lane.

Dallas Fire-Rescue is now asking for the public to come forward with information about the fire and the circumstances leading up to it.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, as does Tobolowsky’s cause of death. However, investigators believe both are suspicious.

Anyone who has information is asked to contact the  Arson Investigation Bureau, at (214) 671-9323, or the Dallas Police Department's Homicide Division, at (214) 671-3584.

A prominent local attorney was killed Friday morning when his garage caught fire in North Dallas.

The fire started just before 8 a.m. at a home in the 7400 block of Kenshire Lane. When firefighters arrived they saw smoke coming from the eaves and attic of the house.

Ira Tobolowsky’s wife made it out of the home safely. She told firefighters she was moving toward the garage and heard an explosion.

Tobolowsky’s body was found in the three-car garage. Investigators believe the fire started there and was fueled by gasoline and other chemicals in storage.

The fire traveled quickly and firefighters had to use chainsaws in the attic to access the fire. They ended up calling for more manpower to put out the remnants.

A longtime neighbor of the couple called the family good people.

“They raised their three sons here. They’ve been a good neighbor and good friends and it’s just a sad day,” said Tony Militello.

A representative from Tobolowsky’s law firm said everyone there is devastated by the loss. They called him a brilliant man.

Arson and homicide investigators were called to the scene as a precaution, but the fire is believed to be accidental.
