TX girl takes journey to thank police officers global

A 10-year-old is taking her police-thanking journey global.

Savannah Solis from Tyler, TX was moved by the murders of two New York police officers in December and decided to personally thank as many officers as possible.

She gave up her Christmas break to write thank you letters to officers in New York, then in Texas.

This past week, she met officers in London, so on Friday, Dallas police officers decided to return the sentiment.

The Dallas Police Department Honor Guard saluted Solis as she arrived at D/FW Airport, fresh from her London trip.

The fourth grader has written more than 1,000 cards to officers.

"I want to be a voice for all kids to let the world know that we love and respect our police officers," said Solis.

The whole experience has inspired her, and now she wants to serve and protect.

"I will wear the badge with dignity and with honor," she said. "I will do my best to keep the streets safe; not just for my future, but for the ones who come after me, thank you."
