Irving police investigating double murder-suicide

Irving police say an estranged husband shot and killed his wife and another man in her home and then turned the gun on himself on Wednesday.

The bodies of 44-year-old Marvin Rene Lopez Monge, 41-year-old Fanny Judith Perez and 52-year-old Jorge Reynaldo Guevara were found just before noon Wednesday at a home in the 3800 block of Rainer Street.

Neighbors say Monge moved out of the family's home three or four weeks ago. They believe that since then, he had been watching the house.

"Yesterday morning he came and he parked again right there for about five minutes and then he take off," said neighbor Jose Luis Salas.

Monge returned Wednesday morning and went inside the home. Salas said he looked angry.

"And I asked him, ‘You OK?'" said Salas. "'Yeah, everything is OK.' ‘You sure?' Because his eyes were kind of, you know, real mad. ‘You OK?' ‘Yeah, yeah.'"

Perez's two 16-year-old sons and their grandmother were also in the house during the shooting, but they weren't hurt. One of the teens reportedly called 911 for help, went back inside and brought the gun outside just as police arrived.

That's when neighbor Kendall Hibbitts walked outside.

"And I didn't really know what's going on," she said. "I said, ‘What's going on?' and a saw the police running down the street with shotguns and a heard ‘em say, ‘Put the gun down so we can help you!' When I heard all that, I ran inside and locked the door."

Neighbors say Perez has two other sons, but they weren't home at the time of the shooting.

Guevara was Perez's new boyfriend.
