Repairs are almost finished five months after a parking garage collapsed in the Turtle Creek area of Dallas.
The structure at the Renaissance on Turtle Creek collapsed last October after heavy rains soaked dirt and debris that was piled on top of the garage for a swimming pool project. No one was hurt, but more than 30 vehicles were damaged.
After seven-days-a-week work to repair the structure, the garage is set to open next week. All that's left are a few city inspections and painting the parking stripes on the ground.
The re-opening will provide spaces for more than 900 resident vehicles. North Star Recovery Services has been working since the partial collapse on Oct. 23.
The condo association has provided a shuttle to a nearby-secured garage for residents while the repairs have been worked on. Others have parked on the street and encountered issues with parking tickets and even towing.
With the garage opening, many of the parking spaces on the street will once again be open as well.
