Cellphone GPS leads police to carjacking suspects

- Technology helped police track down a carjacking and armed robbery suspect in Dallas.

It all started around 2 a.m. Friday outside of an apartment complex in far east Dallas.

The victim told police two men approached his car and tried to sell him weed. Then they waived a pistol in his face and assaulted him.

The robbers took the man’s cellphone, wallet and car. But, he used a friend’s phone to call police and find his phone using GPS tracking software.

After a short police chase, the suspects jumped out of the car.

Officers were able to catch one man. The second suspect got away.
