DALLAS - The suspect in an attempted rape in east Dallas is now linked to another violent sex crime.
Brandon Tarrant was arrested Thursday for an attack that happened at an apartment complex on Swiss Avenue. The victim was tacked and nearly raped in the parking lot on Sunday.
Police identified Tarrant from tips they received. Surveillance video showed the suspect wearing distinctive red shoes.
The 26-year-old is also now a suspect in a rape case from 2014.
In October of that year an elderly woman was sexually assaulted in her home on Ashbrook Road. She was able to provide police with a description of the suspect and a sketch was released, but police never made an arrest.
Detectives familiar with the case noticed the resemblance between Tarrant and the 2014 police sketch. They questioned him about the prior offense and he admitted his involvement, police said.
Tarrant is currently being held in the Dallas County jail for attempted aggravated sexual assault and aggravated sexual assault. His bond was set at $200,000.
