Fort Worth firefighters rescue child from burning home

A child was taken to the hospital late Friday night after eight people escaped a house fire in Southeast Fort Worth.  At 10:40 pm, the fire department responded to a large house fire in the 5300 block of Whitten Street.

According to the fire department, five kids and three adults were in the home at the time of the fire.  After exiting the home, the adults realized one of the kids was still inside the home. An adult tried to go back into the house, but could not find the child. When the fire department arrived they rescued the child who was taken to the hospital.  That child’s condition is unknown at this time.

The Fort Worth Fire Department got the fire under control within 20 minutes of arriving on scene.  The house suffered major fire and water damage.
