New Epic Waters indoor water opens in Grand Prairie

You can escape the cold and even jump in the water at Grand Prairie’s new indoor water park.

Epic Waters opens Friday. It will feature 11 slides, a lazy river, kids’ area and a surf simulator.

It is climate controlled and has a retractable roof so it can be used year-around.

“A cold front is coming in tonight. We will be in here tonight, 85 and people will be swimming,” said Grand Prairie Mayor Ron Jensen.

The city-owned water park was approved by taxpayers as part of a bond package. The $88 million facility is part of Epic Central Grand Prairie, which opens later this year.

The lifestyle and recreational center will include restaurants and retail, along with an amphitheater and playground.

The water park’s grand opening is Friday at 5 p.m. but people are expected to start lining up as early as 8 a.m.
