Gaylord Texans' ICE! exhibit opens Friday

It finally feels like winter outside and inside the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine it's even colder. Good Day's Shannon Murray stopped by to get a preview of this year's ICE! exhibit.

This year’s theme is “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” The exhibit is sculpted right here in North Texas by master artisans from China.

They work with 2 million pounds of ice and added splashes of vivid coloring to create the vibrant sculptures.

“So they know for each exhibit how many blues, greens, reds. You will see clear ice that looks like crystal. Or it might be frosted for snow or Santa’s beard. It really is brilliant, which makes it so fun,” said Martha Neibling, the director of marketing and public relations for the Gaylord Texan.

The temperature inside the exhibit is maintained at a brisk 9 degrees. Parkas are provided but guests are also strongly encouraged to dress warm and bring hats and gloves.

ICE! kicks off Friday and runs through New Year’s Day.

In addition to the exhibit, the Gaylord Texan also has snow tubing, ice skating, gingerbread decorating and photos with Santa.
