Dallas skyline goes purple for student project

- Part of the Dallas skyline are purple for a high school student project.

The students at Highland Park High School were inspired by the message of a former pro athlete. He fought substance abuse and now talks to kids about how alcohol and drugs can derail their dreams.

Students at the school promised to take the pledge not to give in to temptation.

“The idea is to bring awareness to the increasing issue of substance abuse and drinking that’s kind of taking over the high school scene,” said Carson Yeager, the student council president.

He and the senior class president, Katie Dalton, talked more about the project on Good Day FOX 4.

The high school student council wrote to the owners of Reunion Tower, the Bank of America Building, Omni Hotel and One Arts Plaza. All of them agreed to support the project.
