Galleria preparing to light up massive Christmas tree

- The Galleria’s Christmas tree is up and ready for the holidays.

The mall gave FOX 4 a sneak peek of the massive tree, which will officially light up during a ceremony on Black Friday.

The tree is said to be the tallest indoor Christmas tree in the United States, standing 95 feet tall. The star itself is 10 feet tall and weighs about 100 pounds.

There are about 450,000 LED lights wrapped around the tree and about 10,000 ornaments hanging on it.

More skaters ice skate around the tree than around the one at Rockerfeller Center in New York City.

“There’s gonna be about 65 local kids skating in it and national Olympic champions. And mistletoe, the skating Santa who can do back flips and there’s fireworks coming from his skates, even fireworks coming from the tree. So it’s gonna be pretty exciting,” said Ashley Cain, a U.S. National Pairs skater.

The official tree lighting ceremony and show will happen at noon on Friday and then again every day at 6 p.m. through Christmas.
