TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - Shriners Hospitals for Children is teaming up with the legendary rock band Foreigner to remake a classic and sell the group's CDs as a fundraiser.
The band is donating a version of their chart-topping song, "I Want to Know What Love Is," which was recently recorded and sung by bandmembers and children who are Shriners patients in Tampa.
The single is now available for download and the video that was shot in the Tampa Bay area has also been released.
The video shows the lead vocalist, Kelly Hansen, walking through Ybor City and playing with and singing with the children from Shriners.
Over the years, Foreigner has raised more than $300,000 for Shriners. "Foreigner has been involved with Shriners Hospitals for 10 years, and we’ve been looking for a way to make a more meaningful impact,” said lead singer Kelly Hansen. “The lyrics of this song really speak to the qualities we’ve observed in the children here at Shriners Hospitals. The kids show this amazing resilience and happiness that really makes one think how powerful love is,” said Hansen.
The single is available on Google Play and iTunes for download and 100 percent of sales go to Shriners. To make a donation and to download, head to www.showthemlove.org.
