Country singer Thomas Rhett will be the halftime performer at this year’s Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving game.

Rhett’s performance will be part of the annual Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign kickoff.

"Watching the Cowboys game is such a tradition on Thanksgiving Day," Rhett said in a statement. "I'm pumped that we get to pack up the whole family to go to Dallas for the halftime show...it's going to be a blast and helping do it for a good cause makes it even better."

Previous musical acts have been pop or rap artists, but the last few Thanksgiving performers have been country musicians. Rhett is currently the Academy of Country Music’s Male Vocalist of the Year and his most notable song is “Die A Happy Man.”

The Red Kettle drive raised $147.3 million during the 2016 campaign and has raised nearly $2.2 billion since the Cowboys partnered with the Salvation Army in 1997.
