SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Bridgeport sent a powerful message to Class 4A boys' basketball statewide as the Bulls used an all-junior lineup to decimate Houston Sterling 83-53 to take the title Saturday.
Point guard and championship game MVP Caleb Smith sparked Bridgeport (35-4) to a one-sided early lead. Smith finished with 23 points with eight rebounds for the Bulls, while 6-foot-6 forward Devonte Patterson had 25 points and 14 rebounds.
Bridgeport led 33-16 at the half and never let up. Keenan Holdman added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Bulls, who played their starters until the final minute of the stampede.
Corey Burks led Sterling (31-6) with 18 points and four rebounds, while Joshua Young added 17 points and nine boards. Avery Ragland had 10 points and five rebounds.
