No bluffing: Cowboys stick with defense as draft nears close

AP Sports Writer

IRVING, Texas (AP) - The Cowboys kept the focus on defense on the final day of the draft.

Dallas used three of five picks Saturday on a pair of linebackers and another defensive end. The Cowboys also took a second offensive lineman and added a tight end after trading for a third pick in the seventh round.

Overall, the Cowboys used five of eight choices on defensive players. They didn't take a running back even though NFL rushing champion DeMarco Murray left in free agency.

The Cowboys got linebackers in the fourth and seventh rounds in Damien Wilson of Minnesota and Wyoming's Mark Nzeocha (en-ZAH-chuh).

Defensive end Ryan Russell of Purdue went in the fifth round. Dallas got Virginia Tech tackle Laurence Gibson and Texas tight end Geoff Swaim in the seventh round.
