Rangers reach $4,125,000 deal with expected closer Feliz

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - The Rangers have avoided salary arbitration with their expected closer, agreeing with right-hander Neftali Feliz on a one-year contract for $4,125,000.

Feliz was 2-1 with 13 saves and a 1.99 ERA in 30 relief appearances after rejoining Texas last July. He made $3 million.

Following Feliz's deal Thursday, left-hander Ross Detwiler and designated hitter Mitch Moreland are the only remaining Rangers left in arbitration.

The hard-throwing Feliz was the closer for both of the Rangers' World Series teams (2010 and 2011). He became a starter in 2012 and was 3-1 with a 3.16 ERA in eight games before right elbow issues led to Tommy John surgery.

Feliz made six appearances at the end of 2013, but spent the first half of last season at Triple-A Round Rock.
