ODESSA, Texas (AP) - A guard and three inmates remain in critical condition while another felon was listed as serious after a West Texas prison bus wreck that claimed 10 lives.

Authorities continued their investigation Thursday into the deadly accident in Penwell, just west of Odessa.

Officials say the bus on Wednesday morning hit an icy patch on an Interstate 20 overpass, slid down an embankment and collided with a passing freight train. Two guards and eight inmates were killed.

Corrections officer Jason Self remained in critical condition Thursday at University Medical Center in Lubbock.

Four inmates were at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. Terry Lavell Johnson Jr., Damien Anthony Rodriguez and Hector Rivera were in critical condition. A hospital spokeswoman says Remigio Pineda remains in serious condition.
