ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - A game-deciding error against Minnesota Twins center fielder Aaron Hicks is now a two-run double for Mitch Moreland of the Texas Rangers
The Rangers announced before Saturday's game that the official scorer had changed his ruling on the play Friday night.
With two outs in the eighth inning of a tie game, Texas had the bases loaded when Moreland hit a ball to straightway center. Hicks stuck up his glove while drifting back, but the ball flicked off and rolled to the wall, allowing two runs to score.
Hicks said afterward that he should have made the catch and didn't understand how he missed the ball. Texas won 6-2.
The scoring change raised Moreland's batting average from .300 to .308, and added earned runs to three different Twins pitchers. All four runs in in the inning had been unearned with the error.
