ROUND ROCK, Texas (AP) - Josh Hamilton says he has been picking up the pace in the minor leagues and is closer to his first game back with the Texas Rangers.
That could come as early as Monday, when the Rangers open a three-game series at Cleveland.
Before Triple-A Round Rock's scheduled game Saturday night, Hamilton said he likes where he's playing now but is excited about getting back to the major leagues. He was waiting to hear from the Rangers on what was planned for him.
Hamilton says he's happy with how he feels after offseason shoulder surgery and his own version of spring training.
The Rangers reacquired the 2010 AL MVP in a trade from the Los Angeles Angels nearly on April 27.
