Border agents seize more than $648K worth of marijuana

FORT HANCOCK, Texas (AP) - Border Patrol Agents in West Texas and southern New Mexico have confiscated more than $648,000 worth of marijuana in four separate incidents.

In the four incidents on Thursday, agents seized nearly 810 pounds of marijuana.

Two of the seizures took place near the Texas town of Fort Hancock, where agents confiscated more than 473 pounds and arrested six men from Mexico and Honduras. All six men were taken into custody by the Drug Enforcement Administration's office in El Paso.

Later Thursday, agents in Deming, New Mexico, and Lordsburg, New Mexico, found in two separate incidents more than 336 pounds of marijuana packed in burlap-wrapped bundles that had been abandoned in the desert.
