METEOROLOGIST: Regular Full-Time: The position must be able to execute active and severe weather forecasting on TV and online by using tools such as radar, WSI and other sources. Must have deep knowledge of weather science and forecasting and must have a dynamic, conversational and engaging presentation. On days with no active weather, must be able to differentiate and vary forecast and presentation. Will prepare and operate graphics for on-air and online segments and posts. Must be experienced in creating engaging posts and updating forecasts, videos, and pictures for online and social media platforms. Must be able to work with other Meteorologists during severe weather. Ability to broadcast from remote locations for newscasts during severe weather events and community events.
Degree in Meteorology and AMS seal required. Work as part of a team and must be proactive in communication with the Newsroom. Works well under pressure in a time-sensitive environment. Must have proven experience in using weather technology and proven experience and success in all social media. Must have a flexible schedule to respond to operational needs created by severe weather events and coverage needs. Five (5) years on air weather forecasting experience in medium to major market required. Three (3) to Five (5) years in a major market preferred.
PRODUCER: Regular Full-Time: Responsible for producing all elements of newscasts- including leads, stories, teases, and breakouts. Strong writing and show production skills are required. The candidate must have experience in mining social media information. Must be involved in the coverage of news events and participate in the selection and development of stories. Perform other duties as assigned.
Four (4) year college degree required. The candidate must possess five (5) – six (6) years’ experience as a TV newscast producer in a medium to major market. Candidate must have strong news judgment, good writing skills, knowledge of current events and excellent communication and people skills. He/she must handle pressure well including the ability to handle breaking news. Knowledge of TV production techniques and newsroom computer systems required.
ASSIGNMENT EDITOR: Regular Full-Time: Must be aggressive and thorough in responding to breaking news. Research and select news stories through multiple sources including, news wires, websites, social media, newspapers, scanners and email. Responsible for daily communication with police and government officials and agencies. Must develop reliable sources to help in obtaining and confirming information for newscasts. Secure and organize elements for newscasts such as electronic audio and video files, photos and documents. Must have broad working knowledge of online databases as well as broad working knowledge of court and police procedures. Must consistently publish to social media channels. Coordinate, dispatch and communicate with crews to planned and breaking news events. Work closely with reporters, producers and managers to develop stories and story ideas. Answer viewer calls and emails and speak with community contacts. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required with emphasis in Communication and/or Journalism. 2-4 years in a medium to major market experience required. 3-5 years in a Top 15 market preferred. Must possess strong phone skills and etiquette. Must have strong knowledge of legal and ethical parameters for mass media. Ability to work under tight deadlines. Strong working knowledge of the technical aspects of television news production required, including digital and web-based newsgathering tools. Must be able to use newsroom computer systems, including AVID iNews and AVID search, editing and graphics programs. Strong communication skills are a must. Must complete required administrative tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
SPECIAL PROJECTS PRODUCER (Regular Full-Time): The Special Projects Producer is responsible for researching, creating and coordinating live and taped interviews, segments and stories for KDFW-FOX4, FOX4news.com, digital channels, and FOX O&O stations. Must have strong research, investigative and database skillsets. Must be experienced in mining and posting social media material. This Producer will develop and plan content in conjunction with News Producers, Reporters and Supervisors. Contact and schedule interviews. Write and produce stories, create and contribute digital content, edit video, and produce graphics. Produce newscasts and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Four (4) year college degree in Communication or Journalism required. Three (3) to Four (4) years’ experience as a Special Projects or Newscast Producer in a medium to major market required. Must have strong knowledge of legal and ethical parameters for mass media. Ability to work under tight deadlines. Strong working knowledge of the technical aspects of television news required, including digital and web based newsgathering tools. Must be able to use newsroom computer systems including BitCentral/Edius and iNews. Strong written and communication skills.
NEWS BUSINESS COORDINATOR: The News Business Coordinator will handle all administrative tasks in the Newsroom, including but not limited to: payroll, employee time-off records, news expenses, ordering and tracking supplies, communications with vendors, and travel arrangements. Will assist the VP/News Director with expense forecasting and other reports. Will be the Administrative Assistant to the Vice President/News Director. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Four (4) year college degree required. Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in an office environment. Excellent communication and organizational skills required. The candidate must work well under pressure. TV Newsroom experience strongly preferred. Strong MS Excel skills required and must also be very detail oriented.
ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN: Performs the duties of television technician, including handling the operations of television equipment, audio boards, and station automation operations. Performs quality assurance on commercial and program material. Also performs on-air operations for the Production Control rooms/Studios, works with directors in the operation of robotic cameras (including shading) and the coding of ELC or equivalent system. The candidate must have the ability to handle multiple technical responsibilities and changes in a fast-paced newscast.
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Two (2) or more years’ experience as a television technician in a medium or large television market. Position requires handling of multiple demands with professionalism and results and must be able to possess strong communication skills. The ability to work under pressure and work in a cohesive team environment is a must. Working knowledge of IT a plus. The candidate must be flexible and willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as necessary.
ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE: The successful Account Executive (AE) must be able to identify qualified targets, use strong communication and presentation skills throughout the sales process and maintain a high closing ratio. We are looking for someone that can bring together all our resources (Top Rated Local News, FOX Network, FOX Sports, My Network TV, Digital Sponsorships and Promotions) in a creative manner to achieve a high level of results. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to, strategically negotiating existing business along with obtaining incremental dollars from the existing market and building strong client relationships. Responsible for completing administrative tasks such as weekly forecasts, monthly reports, new business trackers, weekly meeting forms and the credit and collection of all accounts.
Qualifications: Ideal candidate must possess a proven track record of success in sales. A four-year college degree is required. Media sales experience is strongly preferred. Knowledge of media math, TV ratings and web metrics is a plus. Candidate must be a self-starter with strong verbal and written communication skills. We are looking for someone who is energetic, positive, creative and passionate to succeed in the highly competitive environment of media sales. Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking are critical to the position. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required and knowledge of media-related software and research tools is a plus.
